Frequently Asked Questions

Is return shipping free?

Yes. When your term is up, just print your free return shipping label and drop the textbooks off at your nearest UPS drop-off location.

Will I be charged for shipping to me?

Yes. Big Mama knows that you understand that shipping must be paid for. If we bury the cost in your order, you will have to pay HST on the value of your whole order. In order to provide you with your books at the lowest possible cost, Big Mama charges you for shipping and makes sure that you get your textbooks HST free.

Does renting really provide significant savings?

Yes. A student will save over $600 a year on average by renting when compared to buying textbooks. The savings are calculated by subtracting each textbook's rental fee from the textbook publisher's suggested list price.

What if my textbook isn’t in stock?

Big Mama is constantly expanding and updating its inventory of textbooks available for rent. Please send an email to info@bigmama.ca and we will see what we can do to accommodate your request.

What if I drop a class?

Every textbook rental comes with a 30-Day "Satisfaction" Guarantee. All textbooks returned within the 30-day period will receive a full refund minus the cost of shipping.

What is the semester guarantee?

The Semester Guarantee gives you a free, automatic extension of your semester long textbook rental so that orders placed between during August 2011 end on December 31, 2011. Big Mama wants you to be sure that you are going to get the books you need and doesn't want you to have to stress about the timing of your order. You need your textbook until the end of exams? No problem!

Is the condition guaranteed?

Yes. Every textbook comes with a Textbook Quality Guarantee. If you're unhappy with the quality of any book we rent, we'll immediately ship you another copy by the quickest means available.

Can I use highlighting or write notes?

We allow limited highlighting. As a courtesy to others who will rent the textbook in the future, we don't allow notes to be written in the textbooks.

Are textbooks a good source of fibre?

Both for your own health and the health of the textbook, we respectfully ask that you seek more nutritious sources of fibre than textbooks; your body will thank you for it.
